Where Flathead Lake Begins

The village of Bigfork has been coined “Where Flathead Lake Begins” by a very active business and resident community. While known for its eclectic shops, art galleries, and the famous Bigfork Summer Playhouse, Bigfork also doesn’t disappoint the palette with an array of fantastic eateries for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bigfork was chosen as “One of the 50 Great Towns of the West” and designated as “One of the 100 Best Small Art Towns of the Nation.”

Some of our favorite things about Bigfork:

Live Life at a Slower Pace

Bigfork is located where the Swan River flows into a beautiful blue bay of Flathead Lake. The village has a year round population of about 1500 people who enjoy the slower pace of this lakeside community and its convenient access to the lake waters. Bigfork is also located at the northern end of the rolling cherry, pear and apricot orchards that cover the east shore of Flathead Lake.

Endless Water Recreation

Catch the annual Whitewater Festival on the class IV waves of the Wild Mile section of the Swan River. Looking to get on the water for yourself? Wayfarers State Park is the go to launch for many locals. Enjoy the crystal clear water the lake is infamous for. From rivers to lakes, Bigfork has it all.

Flourishing Local Businesses

The quaint lake town boasts its very own Whistling Andy Distillery and has great nightlife at the few downtown taverns. Enjoy a delicious brunch at Pocketstone Cafe, then grab a flight of hand crafted beer at Flathead Lake Brewery. The village of Bigfork also has an array of small shops and art galleries along its historic downtown.
