Glacier National Park

Crown of the Continent

Glacier National Park provides over a million acres of wilderness to explore, right in the backyard of Whitefish, MT. A short half hour drive across the northern Flathead Valley and Columbia Falls and through Badrock Canyon brings you to the west entrance to Glacier National Park in West Glacier.

In West Glacier, you can enjoy the seasonal businesses and activities that are open throughout the summer. Although some businesses and services are seasonal, Glacier Park is open year round. The off season is a fantastic time to visit with more opportunities to peacefully view wildlife and scenery without the crowds.

Glacier National Park has a rich history dating back to its creation in 1910, and has a deep tie to the Great Northern Railway. Throughout the Glacier Park region you will find restored historic hotels, educational exhibits, and staff throughout the park and businesses who are well-versed on the history, flora and fauna indigenous to the area.

Activities in Glacier National Park include hiking on over 700 miles of maintained trails, fly-fishing in mountain lakes and streams, whitewater rafting, berry picking, wildlife watching, horseback riding, and scenic cruising on the historic wooden boats that still glide across park lake waters.
